"As a firefighter photographer, I am passionate about capturing the emergency response efforts in our cities and documenting their history through my lens."
CAPTURING THE HEART
OF FIREFIGHTING
Richard L. Story, Sr., is a fifth-generation resident of Wayne and has spent a lifetime documenting Wayne Fire Department history. He served as a volunteer firefighter with the Mutual Aid Fire Squad of Michigan, Inc., and is a past member of the International Fire Photographers Association, as well as a past member of the City of Wayne Planning Commission and Historical Commission. He has written several histories of local fire departments.
"Firefighters are not just heroes in the face of flames; they are the embodiment of courage, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication. They run towards danger when others run away, and in their hands, our safety and hope are held secure. To our brave firefighters, thank you for your relentless service and for lighting the path with your bravery."
